LeBron James signs with the Los Angeles Lakers

LeBron James signs a 4-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers ending his second stint with his hometown Cleveland Cavaliers.

The NBA free agency has started off with a bang. Free agent forward LeBron James signs a four deal with the Los Angeles Lakers Sunday, July 1st. The deal is worth 154 million dollars, the max for free agents this offseason. The deal will be official on July 6th, once players can sign on the dotted line on their contracts.

In LeBron James’ last four years with the Cavaliers, he managed to lead his team to the NBA Finals four years in a row and created on of sport’s best modern day rivalries with the Golden State Warriors. Both the Warriors and the Cavaliers met in the last four NBA Finals. The Warriors asserted their dominance agains the Cavaliers in the four year stretch as they claimed three of the four titles. In the last two series match-ups, the Warriors have gone an amazing 8-1.

With LeBron James moving over to the Western Conference onto a Lakers team that is relatively young, it’s pretty easy to think that they are no doubt going to be considered immediate championship contenders coming out of the West alongside the likes of teams such as the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets.

LeBron James joins a Lakers team that features Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Lonzo Ball. It will be interesting to see how LeBron and Lavar Ball, father of Lonzo and head of the Big Baller Brand Empire, will square off.

LeBron James and Company will be looking to bring the ‘Showtime’ style basketball back to L.A. that hasn’t been around for quite some time. The Lakers have not seen Championship glory since 2010 when Kobe Bryant hoisted his fifth NBA Title.
